: 6 eggs
: 3/4 c. sugar
: 2 c. sifted flour
: 2 Tbsp. baking powder
: 9 Tbsp. melted butter
: 3/4 c. lukewarm milk

: Syrup:
: 1/2 c. water
: 1/2 c. sugar
: 1/2 c. white rum or 1 tsp. rum
: extract

: Beat eggs with sugar until very light. Add flour and
: baking powder and blend. Add butter and milk and beat rigor-
: ously. Pour into a greased and floured 9-cup cake pan. Bake
: at 325 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.
: To prepare the syrup: Cook sugar in the water until a
: thin syrup is formed. Remove from heat and add rum. Unmold
: the cake, and while it is still hot, spoon the rum syrup over
: it until it is all soaked in.
