RUM BABA CAKE

Cake:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6 eggs
3/4 c. sugar
2 c. sifted flour
2 Tbsp. baking powder
9 Tbsp. melted butter
3/4 c. lukewarm milk

Syrup:
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. white rum or 1 tsp. rum
extract

Beat eggs with sugar until very light. Add flour and
baking powder and blend. Add butter and milk and beat rigor-
ously. Pour into a greased and floured 9-cup cake pan. Bake
at 325 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.
To prepare the syrup: Cook sugar in the water until a
thin syrup is formed. Remove from heat and add rum. Unmold
the cake, and while it is still hot, spoon the rum syrup over
it until it is all soaked in.
