I have stockings like that too. My aunt made them for all of the grandchildren. We still use them at my mom's house so I had to come up with something for my dh at their house. Mine doesn't have a scene it just has different objects such as a christmas tree, doll, etc. So what I did for my dh's stocking was just cut out a felt snowman as that is what he collects and sewed the sequins over it so it looks similiar to ours. So if you wanted to do a scene you may look through some coloring books and find different things that you could use for patterns and just cut out the colored felt for the patterns and cover them with coordinatig sequins. I hope that all made sense.
For our house I cross stitched our stockings.
