I haven't been 'elfed' but I was "boo'd" at Halloween. It was very simple, I head the doorbell, and when I got there, there was a little bag on the doorstep with some small treats inside, and a note with a picture of a ghost and a poem about being "Boo'd". It told me to do the same thing to someone else, and to put the ghost in my window so I wouldn't be "Boo'd" again. It was a lot of fun. Running after ringing the doorbell was hilarious, too!! Sorry I don't have specifics, but I bet you could just come up with anything you wanted. Also, there was a time limit on the next person...I assume to keep this going.
