What Do We Have To Be Thankful For? By Norbie
It is Thanksgiving time again, a time to give thanks for many things.
It is a time to spend time with our families and to eat delicious home cooked meals of turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie.
It is time to watch Thanksgiving parades with huge balloons and floats decorated with beautiful flowers.
It is a time to watch your favorite football team compete against their opposition and hopefully be victorious.
What does Thanksgiving mean to you besides eating a delicious turkey dinner and watching a parade or football game on television?
For most of us there is plenty of food at the grocery store to help us get through the winter. Most of us don't have to depend on the food we grow ourselves like the pilgrims did so many years ago.
So what do we have to be thankful for? We seldom ask ourselves this as we rush through our busy everyday lives.
What do we have to be thankful for?
I do believe that there are many things for us to be thankful for. No matter how rich or how poor we are, we all have things that we are thankful for.
Maybe we are grateful for our wonderful supportive spouse, beautiful children, good health, family and friends.
I am grateful when I wake up to the sunshine beaming in my window, and to the feel of the fresh crisp breeze against my face.
I am grateful for the leaves changing colors and covering my yard, then raking them into a pile to jump in.
I am grateful for the cool breeze in the air as winter approaches. Bundling up in warm winter jackets, scarfs, mittens, and hats. The looks on my children's faces as they run in the house, with cold runny noses and red rosey cheeks. For warming our tummies with steaming soup or hot chocolate.
I am grateful that I have a roof over my head, and that I am able to watch my babies grow into children, adolescents and finally into adults.
I am grateful for another year passing, for continuance of life, I am grateful to be part of the big scheme, just by witnessing the season change.
What are you thankful for?
Thanksgiving is a day to remember everything that you are thankful for and a time to reflect and appreciate them.
Lets make this a Thanksgiving tradition.
