Lib's Cheese Straws
Grate cheese and set aside with butter to soften. Add sifted dry ingredients and work well with hands. The amount of cayenne pepper depends on how hot you like them (you don't have to use any). Put into cookie gun or even in a pastry bag and squeeze out onto a cookie sheet in a long continuous straw, or in short (3-4inches) straws.
- 1 pound sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 1/2 cup flour
- 1/4 pound butter or margarine
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- cayenne pepper
Bake at medium temperature (about 300 degrees F) until they dry out. DO NOT BROWN!!!
May be frozen in air tight containers and reheated 5-7 minutes at low to medium heat.
