As the Zip in installed IN the computer .... you don't have to go through the step of plugging it in when you start your computer.

Have you tried using guest95? That has the computer look for a ZIP drive and decide on a letter. I have to do that on a couple of my older computers .... each time I want to use the ZIP drive. Otherwise when I start the other computers I plug in the ZIP and the computer recognises that it is there.

I only have external drives through a parallel port.

Let me think about this some more but I've installed the Zip programs on many different computers and they have Never been a problem... but again they are external drives.

Maybe try reinstalling the program and then it might recognize the new hardware.

ps did you install the hardware correctly? to the right hookup? does the computer know it's there???? does it have power?
