Cheesy Apples

1 (16 oz) can Comstock slicked apples, undrained
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/2 -1 cup sugar
3/4 cup flour
8 oz. Velveeta cheese, cubed
1/4 cup milk

Place apples in a greased 1 1/2 qt. casserole. Combine remaining ingredients in saucepan. Cook and stir over medium heat until cheese melts and ingredients are well blended. Spread over apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 inutes, until top is lightly browned.

The notes on my recipe indicate that it can be used as a dessert using the larger amount of sugar(I compromise and use 3/4 cup) and that it's good for a covered dish supper because it doesn't have to be served piping hot. My family always uses it as a side dish with ham, etc. Also, I prefer to use sharp cheddar cheese, but it still tastes good with the Velveeta. That's all there is to it, very simple and very good.
