Hi -

I know exactly what you mean!

I've wondered about this myself.

I prepare sliced onions (circles), sauteed in a pan with a bit of butter or olive oil and some garlic. I use them over vegetables, broiled chicken and so forth.

I too have noticed that they don't have the same zing (lemon?) as in Cuban restaurants - pollo a la plancha [sp?].

Ideas from others welcomed!
