APPLE ROLLS

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. lard
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. milk
1 tsp. baking powder

Mix and roll to 1/2-inch thick and spread with diced
apples (good cooking apples (2 cups)) and use cinnamon ( 1/4 teasp) or nutmeg (1/4 teasp) or a
little of both, OR also can use 1/3 cup cinnamon red hots, cooked with the apple, and add a few dots of butter. Then roll the
dough in a roll and cut 3-inches thick. Stand rolls up in a
greased pan. Melt 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water and 1/2 cup
butter and pour this over rolls and bake in moderate oven. You
can serve with whipped cream or just milk.
