FRESH APPLE PIE

2 crust pie shell
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
dash of salt
6 c. tart peeled apples, about
5 medium
2 Tbsp. butter

Heat oven to 425 degrees. Prepare crust for a 2 crust pie from
favorite recipe. Stir together sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon
and salt. Mix lightly with apples. Pour into pie crust. Dot
with butter. Cover with top crust which has slits cut in it.
Seal and flute edges. Cover edge with a 2 to 3 inch strip of
aluminum foil to prevent excessive browning. Bake for 40 to 50
minutes removing aluminum the last 15 minutes of baking time.
Crust should be light brown and juice beginning to bubble
through the slits of the crust. Serve warm with ice cream.
