As far as I know....perhaps the brand of canned food needs to have more oils in it, for internal lubrication. Also, more fiber is needed in the diet. You might ask the vet for a good diet for all that. Also, make sure there is lots and lots of fresh water to drink...perhaps you can lead the doggy to the water dish more often, to encourage it to drink more.
I also know that milk usually "gets things moving" in my pets at home, and I usually stay away from it.....but, perhaps , in small amounts, it might help your doggy?
