I sucked a pacifier at 6 years old and my mother took it away from me. So I got a nipple from a bottle and used it instead. All night long you could hear the sucking of air coming from the nipple; so I'd stick my finger in the hole hoping that it would disturb the other family members.
Fortunately, I have the straightest teeth in the family and I would rather my child suck a pacifier than his thumb. Many people have deformed thumbs due to the continuous sucking and most of the ones that I have met secretly suck their thumbs till this day.
Do you ever wonder why you can hardly ever find a size 3 pacifier at Wal-Mart? I imagine that their are more closet suckers that haven't come forth.
