Try giving her something of yours, a night shirt, your pillow case. The sense of smell is more advanced then we think. This little security item may be just what she needs to stay put. Also look at the time you spend together during the day...is it possible she is feeling left out or neglected. For so long she was #1, now with the little sib, she's on the back burner. Try a longer bedtime ritual with reading and songs, but do not wiat until she falls asleep!! Leave prior, and let her know you will be there in a flash if she has any problems. Once in a while my 3 yr old comes out and says he had a bad dream (with out ever falling asleep!!) that lets me know he needs a little more security before setting off to la-la land. Hope these suggestions help. You created a norm a long time ago and it will take almost just as long to change it, so be patient and know that it will eventually all work itself out.
