My dd is 6 and has been riding without training wheels for about 6 months. At first we bent the training wheels up, so that when she rode her bike straight is was on two wheels, but when she stopped or turned a corner she still had the support of the training wheels. She rode this way for a few weeks until she had the balance and confidence to take the training wheels off completely.
