It's tough to find plastic animals etc to scale.

We've used sculpy and made them ourselves. Sculpy is good because it has a terrific set of colors and does not change shape in the oven.

The other way is to buy stickers and apply them to foam board. Cut around the sticker with an exacto knife, and paint the exposed side of the foam board an appropriate color. This gives a detailed look and also a 3-D effect.

You may want to suspend from the top with fishing wire or up from the bottom on painted toothpicks.

Seaweed - get aquarium plastic stuff
Rocks - lava rocks from a nursery.

We've used both of the above to do a River scene and a Rain Forest.
