This is the crazy quilt I know from my mom and grandmother. Take the scraps, no matter the shapes, and sew them together to the size you want.Don't worry about the jagged edges, just keep attaching the scraps in all directions to the right size. You can then add decorative stitches on quilt top such as straight stitches, large cross-stitches or "x" stitches. I also criss-cross the x's next to each other so their "legs" touch. Do these in bright embroidery thread of a variety of colors. You can also add pieces of lace and trims to make it as ornate as you want, but again, just scraps, nothing that looks like you planned it that way. Choose your backing, such as inexpensive muslin, or even an old sheet. Add your batting and quilt away!
Hope this helps. You may try to find a craft site that shows pictures of the stitches. Look through www.craftpals.org or www.crafter'scommunity.com ( Ireally like this one and they can send you to ones specializing in quilting and stitches.
Good Luck!
