I had my class make Jonah's whale in a bottle. First we saved and cleaned out 20 oz. plastic CocaCola bottles and removed the labels. We wrote a Bible verse with perm. markers on the upper portion. The kids put a few inches of water in ( up to where the Coke bottle goes flat for the label. They added a few drops of blue food coloring and some glitter (kids love glitter). I got some tiny white balloons, they don't blow up any bigger than an orange. Just blow them up enough that their unblown has air in it, but don't let the "skin" expand at all. tie a knot with some end sticking out. This is the whale. Poke it into the bottle and tightly screw on the lid. The kids loved playing with it and saying the vers over and over while they swirled the whale inside. My ten year old still has hers from 6 years ago!
