: : I am a second grade teacher and myself and the other 2nd grade teachers are planning a grandparents' (or special friend) Day. The children will invite their grandparents or special friend to school to spend some time. We are looking for any ideas of a craft, poems or songs and activities. Any ideas are apprecited.

: Well what my kids and i did this past Christmas was made a memory jar. Just got a simple container,it can be anything you like and have the children write some memories that come to mind when they think of their grand parents and put them in the jar. We got a glass canister, put some Christmas ribbon on it and on the outside had a piece of paper that said something like: in this jar are some memories that we have of our time together read them and know how much you are appreciated and as new memories are made we will add to the jar. (whatever you want it to say) and then fold the memories and put them inside. It can be a gift that keeps on giving by adding to it. This gift can be very simple or very elaborate, however you want, but is great for the kids to get their memory going and enjoying their grandparents....hope this helped and one final note: Our grandparents said it was the best gift they ever received.

Thanks - I love the idea!
