: have been looking for instructions for making Santa's underwear--I believe it took two pair of red and white socks, which were tacked together to look like longjohns. It had a little poem with it so that you could take out the thread later and wear the socks. Would really appreiate the instructions and the poem that went along with it. Thanks.

The poem (easier to explain)...
"I bought you this pair of LongJohn's
I was awful sure they'd fit
But I put them in the washer
And found out they shrunk a bit
But if you snip off all the buttons
And pull out all the stitches
You gain two pairs of new socks
But you'll loose your pair of britches."

Supplies:
2 Pairs of all white tube socks
(longish maybe 18 inches).
5 Small buttons
thread
hand needle

Lay the socks out overlapped about half way with the opening toward the outsides, stitch from the toe on one side to the end of the toe on the other. The back needs to look like "cheeks" tack those down with a button on each cheek. Fold the top ends over themselves to form sholders and arms, stitch in place. Sew 3 buttons down the front. You can use a baby hanger so they could hang but place it before you stitch the shoulders down. I am sorry if this is not clear enough, it is hard to explain without being able to draw it out.
