As a ROOM MOM for my son's 2nd grade class, I have an easy, inexpensive thanksgiving craft. Jo-Ann's Fabrics has the materials, or probably any craft store:

- 5 wooden spoons for each 'turkey' (called craft spoons - come in package of 75 for about $2.50...you'll need 2 packages)
- 1 apple
- moveable wiggly eyes (300 are about $1.99)
- a small triagle piece of cloth approx 6-7 inches wide - like a cub scout scarf). I used a thanksgiving print.
- markers or crayons

I pre-glued the eyes on the wooden sticks ahead of time so the kids wouldn't have to deal with glue (ick)

I pre-packaged this 'face' spoon, 4 additional wooden spoons along with the fabric (or ribbon)in a snack-size ziplock bag.

Each child was given a craft-pack and an apple.

The children 'draw' feathers on the backs and fronts of the spoons. On the 'face' spoon they draw that red thing turkeys have (We don't remember the name of it!).

After the children have colored the spoons, they insert the face spoon in the front of the apple, the 4 feathered spoons in the back....sticking up, and tie the 'kerchief' around the neck of the face spoon.

No knives are need to insert the spoons....even 6-7 year olds can stick them in!

Voila! Instant Turkey Decoration for your Table! If you put the craft in pre-packed kit form, it will take about 10-15 minutes to hand out the kits, have the kids color the sticks, insert the sticks and tie the scarf!

Have a good one!
