What to Wear to Your Theme Party

A theme party can be a terrific way to celebrate Halloween or other special occasions. Choosing the perfect costume for your themed party is a matter of matching a costume with the theme that you have chosen for your party. Your costumes can be as elaborate or simple as you'd like to make them, as long as they're clever and appropriate!

For example, your party’s theme may be famous couples, memorable movie characters or celebrities. When attending a themed party on famous couples with your significant other, there is a plethora of famous couples from which to choose. You might go as Anthony and Cleopatra, Napoleon and Josephine or Fred and Wilma Flintstone (the famous couple you opt for does not necessarily have to be real to be famous). Try to choose a costume that fits your personality and that you relate to while still adhering to the theme.

Take a look at the costumes that local stores have to offer, taking into account whether they reflect the theme of the party you will be hosting or attending. Whenever possible, try to choose something a bit unorthodox or unexpected, since there's a good chance that more than one person will show up as the same thing (if the theme is famous couple from the past, more than one couple will definitely show up as Romeo and Juliette or Monroe and Kennedy; be creative!). If you can't find what you are looking for locally, then go online to larger costume shops that have broader selections.

It can also be a fun idea to create your own costume. After all, how hard could it be to create the Wilma and Fred Flintstone look? A white dress that has a zig-zag pattern at the hem and a bun style hairdo and you are Wilma Flintstone. You don't even have the added expense of finding shoes to match your costume, though you may want to spring for a pedicure. The main idea is to think creatively about the costume you decide to wear to your themed party.

Keep in mind too that you do not have to stop with just the costume. As the cliché goes for actors, become your character. If you are going Charlie Chaplin, consider taking the time to watch a Chaplin film or two in order to master his mannerisms and his walk. Or simply remain silent all night long. Taking the time to memorize a few famous lines of the character you will be can add to your overall presentation and will, most importantly, be entertaining for you and other guests.
