: I do trust my 17 year old boy. I also have talked openly with him about sex, feelings, love, and emotional attachements since he was about 5.
Believe it or not, most of his friends actually talk with my husband and myself about all kinds of things I would have never discussed with my parents. The funniest thing is, is that I don't even care if he is having sex because we have talked about it so much and you know they are doing it anyways. What I object to is the
unappropriatness of boy|girl sleepovers at that age, or any age. There are bound to be problems.
Maybe you are the exception, but the parties he has been invited to have been 30-40 kids. One time it was a sleep out in the yard and the other time it was a hugh house where only the father was present. It's like you set the table full of booze and drugs for them and tell them to have fun. Even though you trust them, (and I too have known most of his friends for a long time) it doesn't mean that they will resist the temptation.
Why even put them in that situation that they need to make decisions that they are not prepared for? Why the temptation??? Is this old fashion or what?? What happened to single sex sleepovers?? Can't anything be a mystery anymore?? I guess I just don't get it. Laura
