I like the extra chore idea, her room is upstairs and she has t.v., vcr, video game, and stereo, i have difficulty with the stairs to monitor her using thoose due to some major artheritis in my hip. I am going to dicuss the extra chore for her smart mouth with her as well as loss of privages such as watching T.V. downstairs which is the only t.v. hooked up to direct t.v. in her room movies are allshe can watch.I want to nip this attitude before it gets any worse
thank you for your ideas

: : Is there a reason why she doesn't mind being sent to her room? Does she have a television, phone, etc. in there? If she does reomove them or do not permit her to use them. I would thing grounding with no TV, phone or friends would improve her attitude. Tell her when she can be respectful of people, she will earn the privilege of being around other people. Until then her outside contacts are cut off as well as privileges. If you send her to her room make sure all there is to do is read and think about her behavior. Hope this works. It would be best to discipline this behavior now before she becomes an older teen and gets into high school. If she gets away with it now, it will only get worse. Maybe try extra chores around the house also for each smart mouthiness. Any combination of these should help.
