well i think I would have approached it a little differrent then making her feel her sisters road was the only road to popularity because it definitly isnt. First of all she needs to decide what kind of friends she wants to be popular with. To seek out friends with the same interest as she has by attending activities she is comfortable with when she is comfortable in her atmosphere she will have a more comfortable attitude about everything else and when your doing something you enjoy you tend to be happy which will draw friends to you and in the end you will probably end up with true friends a few GOOD friends is much better then popularity with a lot of people who are not in your comfort zone and probably not going to be good choices for her as friends
