Did you download the drivers or use the disks that came with the computer? Sometimes it makes a difference.
And, if you did download, you may have to have their help line walk you through uninstalling the changes you made on your system Before you RE-install the drivers from the disk.
I was at war with a HPLaserJet5L for 1 YEAR back and forth with the help desk until we finally figured out the right configuration for the printer and my computer.
I have always found Lexmark printers excellent.
